The World of Cinema Takes Over the Baja Peninsula

Founded in 2012, the Los Cabos International Film Festival helps to bring the world of cinema to the Baja Peninsula. Every November, Cabo turns into a mecca for motion pictures, with a carefully selected collection of North American films vying for the top prize. Formerly known as the Baja International Film Festival, the annual event attracts film lovers from all over the world who cherish the opportunity to watch movies alongside both industry professionals and fellow cinema enthusiasts. Aside from the film screenings, the festival also includes nightly networking events, workshops for up and coming filmmakers, pitch sessions and opening and closing ceremonies. 

 

With Los Cabos serving as a picturesque backdrop, the festival offers a unique chance to rub shoulders with directors, actors, producers and other industry pros. Don’t be surprised if you see an Oscar winner hanging out at a local bar or restaurant, as all the local spots enliven with the festival’s international energy. For those who really want to mingle with celebrities, there are exclusive galas catering to film stars and industry VIPs. Formerly known as the Baja International Film Festival, the Los Cabos International Film Festival celebrates Mexican filmmakers, who exclusively compete for the Mexico Primero award, as well as filmmakers from North America, whose films are screened as part of the broader Competencia Los Cabos category. Industry stars such as Spike Lee, Reese Witherspoon and Liam Neeson have attended the festival’s star-studded events, which is no surprise given the film festival’s reputation and the scenic backdrop of Los Cabos.
