Cabo San Lucas is known for boasting beautiful blue waters, making it a hub for water activities
such as fishing and whale watching. The beaches in Los Cabos are nothing to scoff at, either.
However, while the beaches may be stunning to look at, not all beaches in Cabo are
swimmable, due to the strong ocean currents. With that in mind, we have compiled a list of the
best swimmable beaches in Cabo San Lucas.
Playa El Medano
Playa El Medano, more commonly known as Medano Beach, is considered one of the main
tourist destinations of the city. In many ways, Medano Beach is the heart of Cabo San Lucas,
with many tourists gravitating toward the long, two mile beach. Here you can participate in all
sorts of water sports and activities, with wave runners, kayaks, and parasailing tours all nearby.
The beach is also home to several restaurants serving the best in local and international
cuisine.
Lover’s Beach
Located near one of Cabo’s defining landmarks, the world famous El Arco de Cabo San Lucas,
Playa del Amor, also known as Lover’s Beach, is another popular destination for visitors. This
picturesque beach is the ideal for showing off on the ‘gram with its spectacular views and
otherworldly rock formations. Possibly the coolest part about this beach is it cannot be accessed
by land. Instead you’ll have to hire a water-taxi or an alternative mode of water transportation in
order to get there, but once you do, it’s well worth it.
Playa Santa Maria
This horseshoe shaped beach may not be as popular as the previous two entries, but it is
arguably the best swimmable beach in Cabo. This relatively secluded beach is a haven for sea
life, so bring your snorkeling gear because you are sure to see plenty during your swim. The
beach is Blue Flag certified, meaning it is both environmentally safe and provides access to
sanitation services.
